In an attempt to better understand and communicate my characters, I'm going to try to determine 4 traits of each that are going to influence the direction they follow in the story and how they interact with others. These are a primary Ideal they wish on the world, a Personal Goal that they want for themselves, a Principle of how they operate to achieve their desires and a Flaw that becomes an obstacle to themselves (something which they themselves would recognise as a flaw if they notice it).
This is a work in progress. Some of this may be changed. You guys can add your own as well.
Hoshitaka: Ideal: End of Racism Goal: Peaceful Life Principle: Use of Force is justified as a means to a good end Flaw: Distrust
Nikola: Ideal: Protection of the Weak Goal: Success as Inventor(?) Principle: Non-violence Flaw: Inaction
Black Knight: Ideal: Anarchy(?) (maybe some form of freedom if not explicitly believing in anarchy himself) Goal: End of Corrupt Leaderships across the world Principle: Resolute Determination to the point of Murder Flaw: Short-sighted
Unnamed Medieval Aspirant Knight: Ideal: Virtue in Leadership (Authoritarian), Virtue in People Goal: Follow and Serve a Great Leader Principle: Flaw: Ignorant(?)
(Not a protagonist, but probably an important character for the overall plot) The Wizard: Ideal: Uncompromising Freedom Goal: Proliferation of magic Principle: Amassing of Power, all tools are viable Flaw: Insane (often does things that do not advance or even explicitly counter his goals)
(I'm not entirely sure I'll keep this character) Unnamed Wannabe Hero: Ideal: Justice Goal: Become a hero Principle: Constant training Flaw: Naive(?) (does not know how to save the world)
